Best Time to Visit
Travel during the dry season from November to April for sunshine and cooler temps. Avoid September and October, when heavy rains are common. Semana Santa (Easter week) is busy but filled with local festivals. Be aware that boat rides to Little Corn can be rough or canceled due to wind from December to February.
Getting There
Fly into Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA) in Managua. United flies daily from Houston, and other airlines connect through Miami or Fort Lauderdale. You can also fly into Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) for destinations in southern Nicaragua—it’s only a two-hour drive from there.
